AHCC stands for active hexose correlated compound.  This compound is the isolated active substance in medicinal mushrooms.

Initial studies done with AHCC since the 1980's suggest that it is one of the most powerful human immune boosters ever tested.  Claims made are that AHCC will increase NK cell activity, (Natural Killer cell activity) by up to 300% or more.  Other claims suggest that AHCC stimulates NK cell activity quickly and causes them to destroy cancer cells.
