Ayurveda is oldest science known to mankind and mainly focuses on health maintenance.  According to Ayurvedic science, from the time of birth to death, the doshas (positively or negatively) influence one's health status and physical constitution.

Ayurvedic science is so elaborate that it is divided into eight branches.

Agada tantra, or toxicology, is a branch of Ashtang Ayurveda, which includes the science of poisons.

The Damstra chikitsa branch of ayurveda deals with various methods of cleaning poisons out of the body. It also recommends antidotes for particular poisons.
