Libido
Views: 153

Freud's model of the mind in terms of a balance among systems invested with certain quantities of mental energy is called his "economic" model. Libido is the name Freud gives to the "energy" in the mental system as understood by him. While sometimes the term is used to refer to all instinctual urges, Freud is usually careful to say that all libido is originally related to the "sexual instincts."
